PYL-SG media browser — version history

Import from WhatsApp — Lib ▸ Import ▸ WhatsApp… lists your chats by name (not the raw JID), with photo and video counts; tick which to pull in, dedupe against your library, everything copies in.

Skip to the next or previous photo from the editor with the ← / → arrow keys or the on-image chevrons. App icon now amber in light mode.

A new Last import button shows just the files your most recent import added.

A date scale down the side of the library jumps you to any month, without the freeze big libraries used to hit. Also fixes Organise skipping photos, and duplicate scans stopping at 2,000.

Felix is now called PYL-SG media browser — same app, same library, new name and icon. Your photos, albums, ratings and settings all carry over untouched; there's nothing to move or re-import. Also new: watched folders. Pick folders for it to keep an eye on and anything new that lands in them is added to your library for you — when the app opens, on a timer while it's running, or on demand. Files are only ever catalogued: nothing is moved, renamed or deleted.

Finding duplicates is much more focused: every set now tells you whether the files are byte-for-byte identical — safe to merge in one go, with a button to select them all — or only look alike and want a second glance. Also fixes syncing from an Immich server re-offering thousands of photos you already had.

Videos now scrub with the scroll wheel, play in seven more formats, and can fill the window or go full screen — plus a cleaner photo grid (no frames or file names round your pictures) and a tidier top bar.

Removing a photo can now delete its file too: tick “Also move the file to the Trash” in the confirmation and the file goes to the Trash, where you can still get it back. Leave it unticked and your file stays exactly where it is, as before.

Fix for the Dust & Scratches filter: the two sliders are now independent, so changing Dust no longer moves the scratches around, and the scratches look the same in the finished image as they do while you drag.

Sync new photos straight from your own Immich server — Felix downloads only what it doesn't already have.

Show or hide the Adjustments, Layers and Info panels for a tidier workspace, and edit a photo's title, caption, copyright and keywords right from the app.

Important backup fix — please update: restoring is now safe and reliable, works with backups from any Felix version, and leaves your library untouched if it ever fails.

Backing up your library now shows live progress instead of appearing to freeze, and the appearance setting can follow your Mac's light/dark mode.

Rate your photos from one to five stars, then filter any album, person or tag down to just your best ones.

Smaller cache footprint: thumbnails and face previews now use less disk space, freeing up storage automatically on first launch.

Felix is now Apple-notarized: downloads open first time, with no security warning to click through.

Rotate and flip: turn a whole photo 90° or 180°, or mirror it horizontally or vertically — with full undo.

New “keep in place” imports: catalogue files — like big videos — without copying them into your library folder.
